The Weather Girl meets the Midget
Cycle Story#47

It never rains in Pembrokeshire, well not on the just anyway.

And, just we were - just eight - just visiting.

We met at Carew Castle and it looked at first as if we were going to be a crowd until we realised that both ourselves and the Pembrokeshire Ramblers had decided to have a ride starting at the same place on the same day. They were going to lunch at Lawrenny while we were heading towards Wisemansbridge.

We rode mainly on quiet side roads, in fact thinking about it we probably did little more than a mile on main roads.

A good lunch was had at the Wisemansbridge Inn before heading off along the tramway and through the tunnels to Saundersfoot, a village that is impossible to get out of without climbing a hill. We used the old incline and rode up the steep hill past Griffithston Farm which brought us out at the main road opposite Devonshire Drive. A leisurely ride then brought us out at St Florence where we had tea at Flemish Close, the local resident, Percy the Peacock, felt somewhat outnumbered by us al,l so soon fled.

Mum had been busy with welsh cakes and we relaxed in the front room feeding our faces and discussing the relative speeds of the top and bottom of a turning wheel. Due to the unfortunate absence of David Naylor we could reach no satisfactory conclusion, David's eager apprentice Master John Cardy tried his best (and, fair play, we know he'll get there in the end) but we fear he was either out of his depth or just distractedly reliving a great day at his daughter's wedding the previous Saturday.

Hold on to that joy John - the credit card statement will soon arrive!!

Happy pedalling

At Cresswell Quay just a few miles into the ride with special guest Paul Rich from St Florence

Today was apparently one of the highest tides and I finally manage to get a picture with
the tide in.

Looking in the direction in which we are going it looks like we may have some rain - as it turned out we were very lucky, we had a dry day!

I finally manage to get the timer sorted out on my camera but some of this unruly lot just wanted to hide

So after a good talking to I managed to persuade them to behave and do it properly.

An attractive girl but this time the best she can attract is a midget!!

Forgot how to use the self timer again so here they all are - except me!

Our hosts, Mum and Dad - that's Mum on the left!

This has to be ...
... the most ...
... inexpensive cafe ...
... and here's Colin looking pleased.

Proof that we accept new recruits ...
... of all ages!
