| This was the first
time most of us had ridden the 'mini basher' the way wrong
round and it is just as hard! The weather was perfect, mostly
overcast and it being David's ride we would stop at as many
cafes as possible, so the first stop after McDonalds Britton
Ferry was McDonalds Glyn-neath where a careful count was made
to ensure we waited for all (11) at the first stop.
Colin was last up after a very jubilant Jan, Colin has been
living the high life in Benidorm and was out of condition
as the bike he was hoping to ride in Spain could not be located.
Then a rapid descent to the Cardiff Arms cafe in Treorchy
and a lateish lunch before our final ascent up the Bwlch (Len
also climbed the Cimla). After another photo to ensure we
were all present and correct we was off to Afan Argoed for
a final cuppa.
It ended up as a distance of 49 miles with a total climb
of 3800 ft. There is a good chance that Mike will lead a mountain
basher proper a bit later on, a new route for some via Trecastle
and the Black Mountain from Pontardawe, 4700ft in all and
a very pretty ride. Colin has offered to lead a 100 mile ride,
again the date to be decided. Watch the rides list.
Many thanks to Martin for this report.
Happy pedalling
