Over the years,
far more than I now care to disclose, I have had many interests
some of which I have matured and grown out of whilst others
just ran their course and disappeared.
I was born and
brought up in Llanallgo, near Moelfre in Anglesey so Welsh
is my first language. We moved to Pembrokeshire when I was
10 years old and as that part of Wales is predominently English
speaking my Welsh was left to rust. I regained it when I was
in my mid 40s by going to creative writing classes in Gregynog
in mid Wales. I later enjoyed teaching Welsh at Presteigne,
Weobley and Llandrindod Wells. I was totally immersed in teaching
and working with students and published a monthly newsletter
called 'Y Wennol' which later became a website. Later still
it became this. The Welsh stories that are contained here
were written for the amusement of Welsh students.
I enjoy being outdoors
and a camera is always a good companion, that is how my interest
in photography started. Briefly I belonged to the local camera
club but all too often the subject of discussion came back
to which had the real skill - digital or film. I got bored
and left them to it. I started going on courses organised
by Garry Brannigan of Digital Dawn and began looking at photography
differently. I really began to learn, but also realised that
learning is a never-ending journey.
Although I have
always been a keen cyclist I suppose I was always a fair-weather
one, putting my bike away each winter. Then I joined my local
cycling group and now cycle all the year round and in almost
all weathers. Any group of friends consists of a variety of
characters and soon I started dabbling with story-telling
again (but this time in English). At first the stories were
confined to our monthly away days but then became a weekly
feature. Writing the stories gives me the freedom to be outrageous
in a gently teasing way. It makes life fun.
